Sopranos: Elizabeth Drury, Imogen Ram-Prasad, Suzzie Vango

As an all-female consort of professional singers, Papagena is a rarity in the UK. The group explores music written for women’s voices in programmes which juggle folk, medieval, classical and contemporary works with new commissions and the group’s own compositions and arrangements.
Formed in 2015, Papagena has performed overseas and throughout the UK at numerous festivals including Edinburgh, Ryedale and the Three Choirs, collaborated in Birmingham and Stratford with The Orchestra of the Swan, broadcast live on numerous occasions for BBC Radio 3 and 4 and Classic FM, and has recorded four CDs including Hush! and The Darkest Midnight, both released by SOMM Recordings. The group’s latest full-scale album Tomorrow is Today was released by SOMM in April 2026, attracting widespread acclaim and coverage. In September Papagena was invited to record both Christmas and contemporary new work at Abbey Road Studios by the Donne Foundation and its EP Midwinter – Christmas at Abbey Road will be released on the Donne label later this year.
In March 2026 Papagena premiered PASSIA, a bold new reimagining of the Passion story from the perspective of women at the foot of the cross, in Great Malvern Priory, Oxford and Christchurch Priory to capacity audiences and further performances are being planned for Edinburgh, Warwick and Winchester from 2027 onwards.
Future projects include an exciting new collaboration with percussionist Simone Rebello, a residency at Liverpool University's Tung Auditorium during 2027/28, and performances at the Royal Academy of Music, in Somerset, Cambridgeshire and Herefordshire.
